My career pivot was far less defined by the zeitgeist but after decades spent in advertising agencies and in-house at a renowned fashion brand, I longed for — and had a lifestyle that necessitated — the flexibility of going freelance. While going solo for fifteen years strengthened my craft, not to mention my hustle, as every entrepreneur can attest it is often lonely. I frequently dreamt of a hybrid approach; a community of visionary go-getters who would prioritize creativity and accomplishment, as well their desire to be engaged in a rich family life. Enter: THE BOARD.

Freedom Reigns

With age and its accompanying wisdom, I continually gravitate toward those with like-minds: dreamers, aspirers and high achievers. I found them at THE BOARD, and am now eager to learn from, and work alongside, this incredible roster of talent. It’s more than access to sharing learnings and resources with this range of experts who are catalysts for change — from CMOs and CFOs to Venture Capitalists and strategists —but I am excited by the notion of being nimble to jump in as needed on assignments that can impact the marketplace, swat teaming on short-term projects that nurture my creativity and boost brands, and picking up insights and business acumen as client needs fluctuate. THE BOARD’S spotlight on beauty, fashion, retail and DTC — categories in which I am highly engaged but seek to further bolster capabilities — are ever evolving and recognize the strength of our fractional approach. And while I thrive on the caliber of character with whom I am surrounded, my strengths — which THE BOARD refers to as our “superpowers” — are celebrated. As this is a highly vetted group, our individual experiences are valued and held in high esteem from day one. I have never felt more seen professionally.

I would be remiss not to acknowledge that while age begets greater superiority in creativity and wisdom, there remains a barrier in business — yes, ageism is prominent regardless of our phenomenal, decades-long experience. While it’s a challenge when faced individually, it feels surmountable as a team. Together, as THE BOARD, we are a force. As top-tier talents, we stand out in a crowd, and can help your brand do the same. Which is even more vital as budgets diminish.

The Force of Fractional

In my multi-decade career, I always felt “Having it all” fell short — and was frequently coupled with guilt. While I believe as women we should not have to choose, until I found THE BOARD’S expert team, dynamic client opportunities and freelance schedule, I did not believe it was possible.
