My Fractional World is Whole

From start-ups to legacy businesses, brands need to be stirred (and frequently shaken) with both innovation and perspective.
A fresh pair of eyes can fine-tune staid and insular business plans and their execution.
I was convinced of the value, capabilities and efficiencies WE ARE THE BOARD offered even before April and I met. Among my colleagues and friends a consistent buzz had begun to simmer about The Board’s fractional superstar talent pool.
“Buzz Marketing” around The Board was in full effect in the most organic way: through conversation. When recommendations and accolades come from people you trust, you listen.
I had been consulting in the luxury and contemporary sector of the fashion industry after complete fashion burn-out spurred me to sell my Flatiron accessory and clothing showroom.
Simultaneously, Covid was accelerating massive change in all work environments.
I was launching a new business and wanted to reach out to April Uchitel to discuss the concept, get her perspective and see how The Board could step in.
As soon as we met, I was struck by her openness and knowledge across multiple fields.
Shortly after I joined The Board, I was asked to join a panel for the NYC bi-annual meeting.
The collective brain power and dynamic energy of the C suite execs and entrepreneurs in disparate creative fields (fashion, beauty, sustainability, media and tech), who make up The Board including Jamie Rosen Rachel Roberts Mattox Alisha Goldstein Shena Patel Scott Woodward Maggie Spicer Lilly Liu Minkove Jo McKinney Margo Spiritus David Stern Jeanne Meyer were palpable. (A special shout out to Sara McCord who guided me, a TikTok virgin, through content creation.)
The words “collaboration” and “community” are often casually tossed around, but I am consistently impressed by the amount of real collaboration and generously shared resources between members, both in person and remotely.
One of the not so secret downsides of consulting is that, at times, it can be isolating.
It is empowering to feel that I can reach out to members to vet ideas, get recommendations or simply connect. The Board functions holistically, not only because it is professionally effective for both its clients and its members, but because it nourishes community through camaraderie, connection and respect.
With a mantra that ambition and generosity are not mutually exclusive, and members who are adaptable, problem solving experts, I found the right home for both my own business and for my clients.
My fractional world is whole.
